In response to Covid-19 / Cornavirus and for the health of my family and the families I serve, I am practicing social distance when conducting all photo sessions for the foreseeable future.
Maybe you’re like me and your desperately seeking some “normalcy”, but you are only willing to return to those things if you can do so mindfully.
I’ve given a great deal of consideration to exactly how I would be able to provide my services to you in the safest way possible during this time… after all, our kids don’t stop growing & changing and I know you want to freeze these moments, too!
So, what’s the answer as it applies to photography? I’ve adapted my offerings and, in working together, I’m confident we can create some amazing portraits for you to look back on fondly. I greatly appreciate your flexibility and look forward to seeing you – at a distance – soon!

A beautiful mixture of both posed and authentic moments

Custom portrait sessions are lightly staged & posed,
meaning I assist in identifying or setting up an
environment for your family or child to be
photographed in so that everything is “camera-ready”
and then I capture both posed and candid
photos in these locations.
Depending on your goals, I may bring equipment,
such as lighting and a backdrop, when indoors.
For newborns, I will supply wraps & accessories and
also love to further personalize your portraits by
incorporating items you have in your home or have
recently purchased for your new baby.
I will work with you to identify the goals you
have for your pictures (who/what the focus is),
incorporate special items or ideas you
might have, and add my creative touches
for a truly customized session!

Commonly Asked Questions…
What special steps will be taken to help prevent the spread of germs?
- Limited-touch policy and a minimum of 6 feet between photographer & family when possible.
- Photographer will wear a mask when at closer distances of around 6-8 feet, reserving the right to remove mask when at safer distances greater than 8-10 approx. feet in an effort to give verbal directions and help children to smile.
- When indoors, photographer will wear mask at all times and sanitize hands frequently.
- Props supplied by the photographer will be properly cleaned prior to being used.
- If desired, smash cakes for birthday sessions to be supplied by family.
- No back-to-back scheduling by photo studio which allows for proper sanitizing of gear, props, clothing, etc.
- Families are required to sign a digital agreement at the time of booking stating they understand that all who will be photographed must be in good health two weeks leading up to and on the day of the session and that will notify photographer if anyone has ran/runs a fever, has a cough, or feels ill/off in any way and agrees to cancel if any apply. In addition, if you’ve been in contact with someone diagnosed with Covid-19 or if anyone you’ve been near has had covid-like symptoms in the past 14 days the session will also need to be rescheduled. The photographer also agrees to adhere to the same requirements.
Is it possible to “social distance” when having my photos taken?
Yes, I believe so! Location choice influences this, as well as the overall style of portraiture you choose (lifestyle, vs posed).
For example, an outdoor session allows for the most distance between your family and your photographer and is likely the safest from a germ exchange perspective. If you are wanting to limit exposure the very most, I would recommend an outdoor session. If you are comfortable with some additional interaction but still want to be safe, having a “studio session” indoors at your home is likely still safer than traveling to an indoor public location, provided safe practices such as the photographer wearing a mask and sanitizing often are still in place.
In addition, with lifestyle portraiture, the photographer steps back and gives your family space to forget the camera is around and enjoy some moments interacting together. It’s less posed (your kids will love this, and it’s less stress for parents, too!) and more conducive to social distancing. This is in contrast with posed portraiture where the photographer is more directly involved in achieving the final look and it is often difficult, if not impossible, to add distance. For example, traditional newborn sessions often 3-4 hours and requires extremely close contact between the photographer and your family and your new baby.
